I, too, enjoyed this book very much. I suspect what Alcott is referring to at the beginning of the last chapter, is Little Women. When she wrote LW, many readers complained because she did not let Laurie and Jo end up together (sorry, if you haven't read the book yet). I think that's why she put Tom and Polly together in An Old-Fashioned Girl.

I liked the first part better though and I thought Polly was a little bit too perfect, but I still liked her. She was cute.
. Just my opinion, no offence to those who liked it ^___^. I guess in LMA's original ending, Polly was not marrying Tom but some other new guy or perhaps even Mr. Sydney. Who knows
