Think vampires and ghosts could be real? If you do, physicist Costas Efthimiou says you are wrong! Using science and maths, Efthimiou explains that ghosts who walk amongst us and slide through walls don’t exist. If ghosts walk, he says, their feet must be solid enough to apply force to the floor but for them to through walls they would have to be immaterial and without substance. Being able to do both is not scientifically possible since it violates Newton’s law of action and reaction. And what about vampires? Efthimiou calculated that if vampire ducked one person’s blood each month, turning each victim into a equally hungry vampire after a few years, there would be no people left, just vampires! Since that hasn’t happened, it proves that vampires don’t exist either, accept of course, in myth.

Whenever I read articles like this, scientists telling us there is no such thing as ghosts, or near-death experiences, or UFOs, just makes me think, where's the fun in that? Do we really want science to explain everything? Itsn't it just more fun to have a little mystery in the world?

Because of the vampire stuff? I mean doesn't just simple dentistry procedures like getting your teeth cleaned or should I say getting gum samples taken involve a lot of bleeding? Maybe you would prefer these? (I love the 'Basil[sic] metabolic rate' one)

I am not even remotely interested in physics so I have no opinion on the force necessary for a ghost to walk...ghosts could in theory certainly glide, couldn't they? As for vampires, I have read many stories where there is a specific ritual for one vampire to "make" another, simply feeding off a person is not sufficient to create a vampire in this context. Forgive me, but this study seems like more of a joke than anything else. I am not saying I believe in supernatural beings or not, but it would take more than a few snippets of some "study" to convice me...

ahh ghosts could be reel, there are a number of plausible explanations.

as for the walking thing... ...thats some old-school faulty logic
I mean they could hover, or maybe they just operate on human level because that is how they remember life...

...as for vampires...they do exist...many different creatures drink blood to survive...now in the more romantic sense, its possible, the world of the supernatural is quite open...science really cant prove or dissporve, so there is alot of assumptions being made.

I'm not saying there is, but I'm not saying there isn't. There are just too many factors to call it busted, plausible or confirmed.

I think that's very funny, to call on the support of Sir Isaac Newton (Master of the Occult Sciences, as well as physics) to disprove the existence of ghosts. That's not to say that Newton necessarily believed in ghosts, I don't know, but he certainly believed in alchemy, and therefore did not believe that the known physical laws were the end of the story of existence. Besides this, how can you take seriously anyone who tries to discuss metaphysics in the terms of physics? This physicist is out of his realm, and his laws, as any serious physicist will readily admit, do not apply.

Interesting theory, but i assume that this phyicist has never experienced the paranormal or seen a ghost.
It is believed that ghosts can appear through many different circumstances. The main theory is that most ghosts are residual, and are merely reliving a past event that is being replayed by the 'walls' of an old building. It has been discovered the there are the same substances occuring naturally in rock/stone as what makes a video record and replay, so in saying that why cant we view many of these reported ghostly sightings as an old recording being replayed?
Also there are terms of grounded and visiting spirit entities. Grounded spirits are believed to be stuck in our ether because of past trumas that may have occured during the life or there death. Ie rape murder etc. And sometimes the places they 'hunt' are where they died.
spirits that come in visitation are generally spirits that have passed over but come back to visit 'old Hunts' because they held them dear to themselves when they where alive.

ok forgot to add... the walking throught walls thing can be simply that there was once a door where the spirit entity appears to go through the wall. Other reported aparitions of ghosts appearing as if they are gliding across the floor with no feet could be that the floor level could have been aultered. the residual energy that is being replayed is of that time period so the entities wont see the difference. they are walking on their level from their time.
