Yep. Number 5 is "Z", 26 in the alphabet. Pronouced it can sound like "the". "I suggest you see the book." Very good. You could probably tell me the book this comes from, I suspect.

However, there was another one in the same book. There were three, but the thrid involved something that existed only in the book.

1.) Take one lily; kill my friend Eli.
    2.) Positively number one.
3.) Take a broom and swat a bee.
4.) What one does with clothes...almost.
5.) Not Mother, not Sister, not Brother; but perhaps Father?
6.) Hymns? Hams? Homes? Almost...but not quite.

Same as last time. One hint. Clocks.

    Good luck.

Here's what is right so far:

1.) Take one lily; kill my friend Eli. = Only
    2.) Positively number one.
3.) Take a broom and swat a bee. = Room
4.) What one does with clothes...almost. = Where
5.) Not Mother, not Sister, not Brother; but perhaps Father?
6.) Hymns? Hams? Homes? Almost...but not quite. =Hums

    OK this is the sentence:

Only a room where Father Time hums.

    A is number one.
Father Time-- I gave a hint "clocks"

Puzzles were from the books "The Mystery of the Screaming Clock" a Three Investigators Mystery, which I've had since a boy and my sons have also outgrown. I'll try to come up with a new one.

Revived! Thought of some new ones, and I'm sure the new blood here can come up with others:

Now I am fascinated with edged weapons, and I have a large collection of them, from all over the world. Unfortunately, I seemed to have mislaid one of them at the moment, and I want to find it for me. How horribly awkward of me, you know? You will have enough information to name my lost blade in this paragraph when I am done. I believe that although his people did not name the blade, Zorro would know as he probably carries one for back up. Good Luck.

I want to say an épée - the fencing sword named by the French (which Zorro definitely was NOT). However, it's a little big to carry as backup - perhaps a rapier, instead?

Quite so. Too big to carry as a backup, and his rapier is his MAIN weapon. However, the language is right for the blade I am currently awkardly missing.... fumble fingers!

Hmm...a stiletto would fit the original clue, as it was named by the Italians (again, not Zorro's nationality) and is small enough to be carried as back-up, but it's more of a stabbing weapon (not really "edged," though it does have a blade), but of course, it's not French. Hmm...I'm also tempted to ponder if the name of the blade is hidden in the paragraph, but I might be overthinking things...

You might be overlooking something...when have I ever not been able to hide something in plain sight? It's one of the reasons my editor, John Olson, runs so many of my stories, even straightening out the awkward ones...

If I understand the question correctly, we're looking for the name of the dagger in Zorro's boot?

    Is it....... ummmm........ Fred?

OK. You may have to know blades the way I do, although I actually have named the blade three times. I will ease your minds. Here is the blade.

It is known as a Gauche, which is French for "awkward". The Raiper artist would use this dagger in his off, or 'awkward", hand. Since most people are right handed, that was usually the left hand. If someone ducked under the rapier, this dagger would finish them quickly. Handy back up, indeed.

Shall I give you another, or will someone else tease use now?

OK. We will try another. Not to nag you people, but another bladed weapon is missing. It's nowhwere, nata! And it's not like you could conceal the thing, unless you're the Biblical Goliath, maybe. Seems there was some monstrous entinty from India we already had on the Alphebetic Cryptozoology thread, that had a similar name. It's going to nag at me all day and get me nata...

I promise you I have named the weapon in that paragraph...Good luck!

All I can figure out is 'Naga,' but, it does not seem like a weapon to me, it's a monster. Please, correct me if I am wrong.

Isn't the "naganata" a large spear with a honkin' huge blade on the end?
