    big man and teddy bears

i sit on the bed, peep over his huge trapezius and deltoideus
    muskels
    peep into

he's looking at two teddy bears on my dresser
-one surprised, three claws on each paw raised up
    who are you, sir
the little one pensive, snuggled near
green forests stamped on its belly-
doesn't know i'm here on the bed sipping
    his every move
he touches my three little granite mushrooms
    great-gramma got them in korea
    bears walked here from maine
leaves twine 'round them all, a large
    blown-glass vase near
a tiny perfume vial from egypt
and a sage in a frame gazing at us.
    a small pink candle
blown out at what exact moment in time?
in front of speakers that pour out thoughts, emotions,
    but record none,
will leave nothing of us when we're gone.

i feel his fingers on my back
    what tableau do they see
    as they explore my dresser
    greens and pinks
    leaf and stone.
i hear it come to life,
    speak of
    him, his son, his dad,
    we two
    the world.

    he's from new orleans i don't
    think i'm from anywhere
    just small and sheltered by
    this moment, this man
    this life.

the air and water have been here a long time, and they are telling stories.

Awwww. That's adorable. Men contemplating sweet things multiplies the cuteness by infinite and massive proportions.
If you had to live with this you'd rather lie than fall.
You think I can't fly? Well, you just watch me!

i think it just shocked me a little, when i went over what he did. spending time with those little things, touching those bears like they were precious.

Omg, As, i love it. love it. love it. how awesome that contradiction between the caveman persona that the world sees and the softer side that is priveledged viewing. my favorite parts?

"doesn't know i'm here on the bed sipping
    his every move"
    and the candle...
"blown out at what exact moment in time?"
    oh, and of course,
    "just small and sheltered by
    this moment, this man
    this life"
    i so get it.
    beautiful.
Then we sat on the edge of the earth, with our feet dangling over the side, and marvelled that we had found each other.

Somehow this phrase got stuck in my memory afterwards. It´s just one of those perfect lines I would have liked to write.
    "Man was made for joy and woe;
And when this we rightly know
Through the world we safely go" Blake
