Well said. I have come close to buying the farm a couple of times, and that tends to put things in a different light. Experience counts for a lot more than racking up a certain number of birthdays...

And just think, the longer one lives, the more stories one has to swap over coffee..

I'm going to take a moment to pout, so bear with me.

I turned 25 this December, so I have begun to weep for my wasted youth.
Its depressing. I'm a quarter of a century old. I have lived 1/4 of my estimated life. Its enough to make one go out and get something pierced and tatooed and drink alcohol shots off of a sweaty guy named Chad!

not that I did that or anything.

Why would that be depressing? Note the very good point made by abecedarian in the previous post. Cheer up

Err... Sorry to cause even more grief, but I think you passed that particular milestone years ago... I for one most definitely do not expect to be around for my 100th birthday, but that's ok. I'm not particularly certain I want to either.

Thank you very much for trying to cheer me up. Not sure why but this birthday just hit me really hard. *sigh* I think it's because I'm still unsure of where I want to go with my life, not to mention all of my friends (all but 1!!!!) got married this year or had a baby or graduated. *grumbles* damned over-achievers.

As for my estimated life line, I'm sure that barring a catastrophic meteor accident or Arrmaggedon, I'll probably be around to see my 100th. Judging of course that nearly all the women in my family (on both sides) have seen 100 years. The ones who didn't see 100 at least saw 90. So I'm really just playing the stakes.

Ah... I see. But hey: look at it this way: I'm nearly twice your age, and I still wonder what I'll do when I grow up. Besides, I left a lot of things late too, and I have no regrets in that respect.

Really? Amazing... So, you probably have both good genes and a fair bit of time. Only one piece of advice left then: Carpe diem.

Very cool! You should look forward to driving, gives you some power! I am going to learn to drive when I turn 15 too and am rather excited, I will have to start saving for an electric car.
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

............some days i am fifteen, racing down a frozen river on sharply honed ice skates. Somedays I am twelve and letting off fireworks and trying not to get caught by the police. And some days I am older, more mature, wiser. Then there are the days when injury or hard work make me feel as if I am seventy, stooped, achy, a little cranky. And there have been many days of falling in love that bequeath the experience of timelessness to life, a revelry of having always existed, always existing. But in fact, as I move once again into the sign of Taurus this spring i will receive the gift of 50 fantastic years. Yeah for me!!!!!!

What are you saying about my dad? Yes, it does sound a bit slimy.

Currently 17 (according to my birth certificate), but I feel like I've been stuck at eight for quite a few years. I still feel like that silly little girl that wears pig tails all the time, and froofy dresses, and laughs at lame jokes. Maybe it's something of the shyness coming in. And wow, we have some great kids! I'd have never guessed how young some of y'all are, you sound very sophisticated, etc, etc.
A bit that I wrote: Vanilla Ice Cream. Comments and critique welcomed! :-)
