Anyone in this forum read any of L. M. Montgomery's novels? If any one has, I'm starting a thread for general discussion of her books. Tell me what you think about them. :-)

LMM is one of my favorite authors, I have read all of her Anne books and the related Chronicles.

Which book was your favorite? Mine has to be the first and the last.

I read her first collection of journal entries, anyone else?

Oh, I haven't read her journal entries yet, although I've read most of her books and many of her short stories. My favourite by far is The Blue Castle (I want to live on Mistawis!), and I like A Tangled Web as well - the interconnection of all the different stories is wonderful.

I love Anne of Green Gables and have now passed on the love to my 9 year old. My children new about kindered spirits long before they read the book. I loved her fun loving nature and Montgomery"s understanding of how a 12 year old girl thinks is as true today as it was then. Something's never change.

If I ever get to PEI I will go! I love the Anne series! I've read all of them three times. I love the imagry that LMM gives. It always makes me either want to work in my garden, clean my house, or study.

I know they were made a while ago, but what did you guys think of the film adapations of the Anne series? I loved them personally, i was finally able to put a face on one of my favorite characters

You would not believe how many times I have seen those movies. I loved them way before I ever sat down and read the whole series of books. The last part of the series only came out a couple of years ago, so they are not that old. I think that it was a wonderful conclusion, but I still sort of wish that they would go on and do one inspired by "Rainbow Valley" or "Rilla of Ingleside," there's the potential there.

I love the film series so much - I had read the books first but none of the characters jarred the ideas of them I had in my head too much. I was sad about the addition they made not too long ago, though, where they totally depart from Montgomery's story and have Gilbert go to war or something? I haven't seen it, but I don't understand why they would make a different story when there was already an existing one written by the author. Anyone seen these and care to share what they thought?

I LOVE LM Montgomery and Anne of Greengables and everything. Really, have ever since my best friend lent me the first book (Anne of G) years ago. I was maybe 13 then. I still love LMM and read everything by her. Theres still some of her books I havent read beckause i cant find them in the library or the bookstore here in Finland. I buy them whenever I get the chance. (One is all the way from Amsterdam.) Actually Ive got Mistres Pat unread rigth now. (Thankgod for the summer. Now Ive got time to read it.) LMM just has got a wondeful way of writing. Its the atmosphere and everything.

But actually: the latest thing by LMM I have read is her Selected journals. Have read part 1,2, & 3, and am dying to read part 4 which I have found out is available thou not here in Finland. Stupid. Well anyway. It was really a pleasure to read the diaries. They give an other perspective on the books. Maud Montgomery was a wondeful admirable person. It was nice to read her own story in ther own words. I still love the books thou I know what was behind them.

About the films: Havent seen them. But I would really like to, but u cant borrow them from anywhere here in Finland. Hope they will send some on tv sometime again. Have heard Anne -series have been on tv here sometime, but that was before I had read the books. Too bad. Im really curious about the films.

And last but not least: PEI! It must be a wonderful place! Lucky Kiwi Shelf who has been there!!!!!!!!! I dream of going there. My dad and I planed to go there (or to Canada)this summer, but well, it costs a lot etc and we cant go anywhere anyway this summer... But some day Ive gotta se that place.
