    Hi,

Here via a search for Chekhov short stories (which, by the way, isn't really typical of my reading habits...).

But I'm a literature glutton and rather indiscriminate, will read just about anything that catches my eye. Fave authors include Truman Capote, Iain Banks, Clive Barker, Tom Wolfe, Virgil, Steven Saylor, Alexander Kielland, Raymond Carver, Sarah Waters, Sylvian Hamilton... Right, should stop somewhere.

I'm Norwegian and read English in addition to Scandinavian languages, and wish my French and German were good enough for reading beyond school textbooks. I have a degree in literature, specifically hypertext literature (electronic and otherwise), and since I certainly don't mind reading on screen I let out an embarrassing little squeal of delight when I came upon the author index here.

Glad to be here, hope you won't mind having me

    Hi!

I'm 31 and just recently started my Ph.D, probable specialization identity and ethics in Trollope and Gaskell. I'm also teaching a course in modern poetry, which is nowhere near my specialty, so I'm prone to crises of confidence.

I stumbled across the site looking for a Yeats reference. Since I'd been thinking about finding a forum of this kind, I registered.

Hi everyone, I am Sam...and yes i do like green eggs and ham. That should give you a good feel for my sense of humor. I am an English graduate student, just starting out and found this site through a search for some information on Jane Eyre. Actually I was interested when I saw a comment about the Eyre Affair by Fforde (read that as an undergrad in a mystery class) Anyhoo, as you can tell my nic is more of an pun of sorts when it comes to me being a real conversationalist (either in real life or online) I am hoping to meet others with the same love of literature and who enjoy a good rambler.

Hi. I just started in the forum a few days ago. But I've used this website countless times. I am 17. I love music, as is apparant by my membership in my high school's Madrigal group. I write poetry, am in Forensics, which is a performance based class, I love chocolate, have sugar gliders as pets, live in Kansas.

Oh, yeah. I am a girl. I just made one of the leads in the school musical. I live in a tiny town in Kansas. I love reading. Right now I am typing on my Senior Aide hour. I aid for my drama director.

My real name is Jessi. Named for Jesse James the bank robber, who I am related to.

Although I just joined a few days ago, I am loving posting here and meeting new people who share my love of literature. I really feel comfortable talking to the people of this forum, although I'm not so good in my actual life.

So yeah, I'm glad to be here.

And welcome Serenata! I hope you will like it here! But what do you mean by, you are not good in actual life? You seem like an intelligent and interesting person. You must be good in every life!

    Hi!

    Hi everyone,
    The name is Walter.
Doing this first before even looking around.
I read almost everything and am looking for friendly book discussions and conversations.
Not so long ago it was "Wedding in Winter." This morning I decided against "The Black Dahlia." Someday soon I hope to get around to "New York Trilogy."
    Nice to see you all.

    Hello, everyone!

    My closet is a library.

I am glad to have discovered this place, this haven. Here I will never be asked, "You mean, you're reading that for fun?", nor given funny looks for hugging a book. I hope.

    Schokokeks,
    Thanks for the huge huggy!
It turns out that today I went out browsing and saw a different book on the Black Dahlia, by Donald H. Wolfe, The Black Dahlia Files,(2005), a fact-crime book which really claims to solve it, right down to the name of the killer and his accomplices. It also claims to discount the solution in the previous book I was aware of, and it is clearly going to provide more facts than the movie I saw yesterday. It sounds like I am getting sucked in to becoming an amateur expert on the case. After I read the book, that is, which will be who knows when?
