    Any animal lovers?

Hey, I just wanted to see who has pets and/or loves animals. I have three cats and a dog. I once had nine cats and two dogs (I know, I know, seems a little lame...I have a fear of being one of those stereotypical old ladies who has about 40 cats milling around her house. )

I grew up on a farm and as a kid, I always preferred the company of the animals over the people I knew. We had horses, cows, chickens, goats, rabbits, pigs and sheep. Nice, but a lot of work!

Anyway, here is a pic of my pal, Dillon. He is mostly Pit bull with some German Shepard in the mix. Some Pit bulls are mean, but this is perhaps one of the sweetest, most gentle dogs I have ever had. And as you can see, he is extremely smart! He drives better than me! Care to share anything about your pets?

Oh I am never too much fond of animals but once my father brought a Rabbit for his Zology tution class. (He is a Professor of Zology) At that time I was very young. When I came to know that my father is coming to take the Rabbit away to cut it, then an idea came into my mind and I took out the bucket in which my father had limited the Rabbit so he could not run away. Ofcourse, then the Rabbit was free but my happiness was for a small time because my father arrived at the very same moment and ran behind the Rabbit. I was praying that the Rabbit would run away but then my father caught it and cut it infront of his students to show them the body parts. It made me cry a lot.

And whenever a Goat is sacrificed on Eid Day, I never want to be engaged with the Goat because it makes me feel really bad that she would die/be sacrificed.
I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew.

I have always had cats or dogs. Friends to the end, and for no good reason. Everything can be terrible and you can be screwing up left and right but your dog will always be happy to see you and willing to take all the time in the world to play with you, and pay attention to you.

I think that good pets are personable pets. I couldn't dig having a lizard or a snake, just because they are more detached. I would have previously included birds in that category, but recently I met a person who owns a parrot. I've never seen such personal interaction between a human and their pet!

Pets are wonderful. If you don't mind feces .

Why disqualify the rush? I'm tabled. I'm tabled.

I've always been a cat person and until recently had 2 of them, Isildur and Zelda but they kept peeing everywhere so they had to go. Along with the 2 cats, we had a beagle named Smeagol and when the cats were gone he seemed so lonely so we adopted an other dog from the Humane Society, his name is Dobby. We didn't pick Dobby's name, we inherited it, apparently, he was named after the house elf in Harry Potter and looking at those ears, you can see why. They said he was a Shiba cross...crossed with what no one knows but I'm thinking, judging from those ears, a chiuaua. And the picture really doesn't do them justice, they are huge and they swivel! One of our favorite things to do is to move around the room making noise and watching those ears follow the sound, his head doesn't move, just the ears.

feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

I've got an Australian terrier, Ruby:

I've had her since I was about seven, and she's completely mad. She acts like she's still a puppy, despite being a pensioner in dog years...She's impossible to train, is generally quite badly-behaved, but I love her anyway.

Personally, I can honestly say that I have never lived anywhere without at least one cat; I love birds, dogs (to a limit), and fish, too, but definitely consider myself a 'cat-person.'
Presently, I have three cats, and may get pictures of them soon, named Pip (guess where I plagiarized that name?), Neo, and Sheba.
Actually, on second thought, I found that I do have pictures, but only of two cats.

    Of Pip:

Here's me and Brandi, my Yellow Lab. I've posted this picture before, but since it fits here I'll re-post it. The second picture taken by the breeder is of Brandi hours, if not less, after birth.

I love most animals, but especially dogs. And Kathy, Pitbulls if raised correctly are very sweet natured. It's those that are raised for fighting which gives the breed a bad name.

Oh, I know. Most animals can be "trained" to be vicious, if that is what some (idiotic) person desires. It is just that a lot of people ask me what kind of dog Dillon is and when I tell them, they get this cringey look on their faces. Meanwhile, the dog is busy wagging his tail and has this goofy dog "smile". Yea, he's a real killer...

That would make me cry too.

I have a bird, a green cheeked conure named Spenser, who's the joy of my life. In fact he's sitting on arm right now trying to help me type, though I've had to keep him away from the keyboard since he's pried off one of the keys. He also once managed, while I was looking the other way, to send a half finished e-mail I was typing to a friend with his own little "message" at the bottom. He's very bright and playful and affectionate. Here's a pic. which I've posted before, of my curious little fellow trying to post to these forums.

Enjoy all your pictures of pets! I honestly don't know how to put pictures up on the computer system, so can't provide a pix of my part-Rhodesian Ridgeback, Daisy. Ridgebacks are wonderful dogs, - very faithful.

Posting your images goes like this:
Choose a free hosting site, such as photobucket: http://www.photobucket.com/
They do require registration, but you can always give them an email you don't use, (they don't spam) and you can organize all your pictures into albums by category. Imageshack and tinypic are two other sites that you can use that don't require registration.
    http://tinypic.com/

    http://imageshack.us/

Upload your image to the host. If you use photobucket, they give you the necessary code to post in forums. Looks like this. (BTW,that is my Murray )

If you go with another host, they will give you an url for your picture. Copy the url and paste it into your post using the insert image button (it looks like a little picture of a mountain.) There you go, all set.

When I was young, my parents always believed that kids should have pets in the house...I guess to teach responsibility or something like that....and my mom loved cats, so we always had at least two cats. Even when my parents split, they both would keep at least one or two cats at each of their houses. I am definitely more of a dog person, but my mom was in a condo that didn't allow dogs and my dad I think didn't want to bother with one...

In essence, though, those cats were all "family cats," they weren't specifically MINE. I got my own cat, missy, when I was a teen. She was apparently a rare calico because she had 5 different colors on her coat...and she seemed to know she was rare because she could walk with her chin up and avoid being touched by any "unworthies." Prissy missy, my siblings used to call her. But I loved her, and she (usually) loved me, so it was all good. We had to give her away when I moved here to the Caribbean.

My sister is a HUGE cat person, so when we moved here she got a cat. This was in addition to my grandfather's 3 goats, 4 dogs, handful of chickens and uncountable rabbits. He was glad when we moved out of his house and the cat got taken too.

Now I live with my boyfriend, and his family is a dog family, so I couldn't be happier. We have a playful, rough, insanely mixed dog named Lady, and I adopted a cat that Chris' uncle had abandoned ever since he got 2 ****zus. The cat's name is Demon, but he apparently got it from when he was an evil little kitten. Now, he's nothing but sweet and loves attention, though he won't beg for it. I love him...I wish I could bring him to keep in my dorm....

    Pics later!
