    my last duchess

    if anyone has read my last duchess written by robert browning i need to find character traits of the duke and quotes to back it up!
    please help me!

    I like the poetry of Robert Browning, and this poem is a particular favorite of mine. With each line, Browning develops the character of the duke. Check it out -- read it a few times and see if you agree that he's a real "piece of work" -- an odious and pompous autocrat who's so jealous and intolerant of his last duchess's disposition, and, unwilling or unable to 'stoop' to 'correct' her, he 'gives commands' so 'all smiles stop together."

    Worse, even, are his future plans...But I think I've said enough. Read it again. This one's worth it.
