1984 vs. Now

I am currently writing a research paper comparing current day government with George Orwell's 1984, just as many other people have. I am curious as to others opinions on this matter, and would like to encourage those who post to go to the following site and see what it has to say on the matter as well.

I personally beleive that modern government in the US is starting to seem more and more like the Party from 1984. Before I go into my arguments, I'd like to hear from the literates out there.
