Ivanhoe is a very boring book with way too many quotes that no one has ever heard of. Out of the whole book of like 30 chapters, there were maybe 2 decent chapters that didn't kill me to read. It gave me some new vocabulary words to use but other than that, it was hard to understand because SIR Walter Scott skipped around too much from one subject to another.

i got this book as a gift from my aunt on my 13th birthday
i'm only 13 and of course it's a little challenging to read for someone my age
but i really liked it
it's my type of book
I loved the quotes. Unfortunately they were the only thing to keep me going. I think that it is an aquired taste. Not mine anyhow.

I really liked Ivanhoe first time through. I read Ivanhoe when I was about thirteen/fourteen, and I think it was a refreshing challenge, but not so challenging as to not understand it. I agree keikothecrusade.
I think Ivanhoe should have gone for Rebecca...no Rowena. It's hard. I like them both, but in very different ways. And Rebecca would be alienated from her faith if she had married Ivanhoe.
