Found this in my Hotmail inbox this morning. Anyone else get something similar? Does anybody have any information about this? I'd rather not submit poetry unless they have a firm understanding of copyrights.

Any valid poetry contest is not going to spam you to try to get submissions.

Its probably an International Library of Poetry Wannabe.

Poetry.com is a particularly greedy one. But be careful with these, they are very good at stroking your ego.
Recommend: www.house-of-poetry.com to get the low down on vanity publishing. (Though if they are there to destroy the opposition to an equally bad scam I cannot say).

    Agreed

I just don't see how anyone can not see that they are form letters that they send to everyone. Even when they have that handwritten section at the top of the letter to make it seem more personalized, it's still obviously printed and not written. Luckily I've only purchased one book with my poem in it. I didn't go to the covention nor purchase the poems on tape, or the plaque. I've always had a feeling that ILP was too good to be true, and indeed it is!

Isn't this the same thread name for our poetry contest? Are we allowed to have the same name for more than one thread? I'm getting confused.

Oh, I did write a small poem for poetry.com, because poetry's one of my hobbies, and I received a letter saying that my poem had been selected to take part of a beautiful coffee tamble book of poems. Well that was like a compliment for my vanity but deep at heart I was some how sceptic and I didn't accept the inclusion of my poem in the book nor did I make any steps to buy it.
    This is the poem:

    To A Poet

Continue with your words, my friend,
    please keep on writing so,
don't let your mind forget your trend
    of seeing life's fun go.
You see the little things of life
    and put them into words;
good thing you see its funny side
    to make us laugh non-stop.

    Laura

Honestly, what do you think of it? I don't mind if you say horrible critics about it. I'm just someone who like writing and want to learn.

I really like it. I never thought of writing a poem letter style, clever. Hmmm, maybe i'll give it a go.
