Post crabapples and p'simmons - help!!!

    Hi everyone,
could someone help? I am translating The Adventures of Huck Finn into Czech and got stuck in the part where Jim and Huck think about whether stealing is bad. They conclude, that they won't steal two things anymore - "crabapples and p'simmons".

Whereas "crabapples" is clear, I have no idea what p'simmons refers to. Does anyone know?

    Thanks a lot,
    Jana M

persimmons, a kind of fruit, "the plum like fruit of the Diaspyros virginiana, the American date-palm" OED. from the Powhatan (Algonquin) name.
    Voices mysterious far and near,
Sound of the wind and sound of the sea,
Are calling and whispering in my ear,
    Whifflingpin! Why stayest thou here?
