I will avoid those Isles of Langerhans.

Esther offers "heat" for this week's limerick: https://estherchilton.co.uk/2026/05/...-limerick-284/

Though I thought it was hot it was not,
since the heat got much hotter. I got
a fine thought for a verse
    (not a whiny, cold curse)
as the heat got much worse than just hot.

Lol, enjoyed... will not be enjoying the hot weather to come.

    On a lighter note:

    heat of the moment
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0KxqxWeZGo

itt shed in the heat of the moment
    hardly Brobdingnagian did itt went
    shedding its floor length hirsute
    alarmingly during any dispute
such is the winter of itt's discontent

Nice warning in that song "Heat of the Moment". Even Brobdingnagians don't like the heat.

Esther offers "road" for this week's limericks: https://estherchilton.co.uk/2026/06/...-limerick-285/

Like a hog he was hogging the road
and he carried a hoggish, huge load.
Well, we all tried to pass
    but we couldn't alas,
so we let the huge hog hog the road.

    the roadie

the roadie was knowledgeable but humble
like from a turnip truck he must'a took a tumble
but when the show must go on
and the band's drummer had gone
he stepped up to the kit and did rumble

Those canyon roads must be very narrow. It is good that one can always find a replacement drummer for the show to go on.

Esther offers "jelly" for this week's limericks: https://estherchilton.co.uk/2026/06/...-limerick-286/

    Shocking Jelly Donut Love Song

They filled a fine donut with jelly
and they said it was good for your belly.
    Though it tasted quite good
as my mouth said it should,
my fine belly was shocked by the jelly.

Yes, very narrow country roads with many hairpin turns.

Lol... I think one filled donut once in a long while is ok, but yes - a shock to the system. Enjoyed

    Back later with my offering...

    On the High Seas

The Portuguese Man o' war has no fear of jellies
who eat Medusas with relish to fill their bellies
however Blue Dragons and Violet Sea Snails
and some turtles and fish are drawn to their sails
    their ruthlessness rivaling Machiavelli's

I've sometimes seen stranded jellyfish on the Atlantic Ocean beaches. Those Velella velella look similar but smaller. I never thought about before what they ate.

Esther offers "bills" for this week's limericks: https://estherchilton.co.uk/2026/06/...-limerick-287/

There are birds with their bright shiny bills.
There are words that delight with their thrills.
There's a this for each that.
Here's a kiss for my cat.
There is summer to fight winter's chills.

    Bills

    Shakespeare himself was a Bill
and he deported himself, well, with will
Then there's that dude from 1066,
and Star Trek, (4) Star Wars, and Styx
even a commander of the American Escadrille

There are a lot of Bills! I wasn't able to connect to the site yesterday, but it is clearly working today.

Esther offers "train" for this week's Laughing Along With A Limerick: https://estherchilton.co.uk/2026/06/...-limerick-288/

    Busy Train

There once was a tiny toy train
    protected from weather like rain.
    It went “choo-choo” all day
    in a circular way
and it circled again and again.

I followed a train of thought in prayer
for the express purpose to square

I’ve been missing this thread, gents.

    Switch Man’s sleeping…

Casey Jones was driving that train
As he hummed a joyful refrain
    There’s trouble ahead
    We’ll all wind up dead
    ‘Til the main-line’s rolling again

The real-world incident didn’t resolve this easily. Jones stayed at his post, braked hard, and alerted others with his steam whistle, saving those on his and the other train. Jones perished. And despite the popular GD tune, he was not “high on cocaine.”
    Uhhhh...

Thanks guys. It's good to be back. Been busy, busy, busy, also has this website been glitchier than normal or is it just me? Anyway, it's one of the things I kinda like about this place.

As Grateful Dead train songs go, I've always liked The Monkey and the Engineer tune:

(Another in their long list of tragedy songs)

    https://share.google/vpCWZpBhNQXvPIuLm
"The monkey pulled the throttle, locomotive jumped the gun, and made ninety miles an hour down the mainline run"

I like the propane idea. My wife, who is a social worker at a local hospital, spends a lot of time dealing people who've blown out their hearts with that drug. Yeeech'
    Uhhhh...
