    Tahiti

You have go to make a change.

    Okay I have.

Do something down that is not yourself:

    Sold house, learned French:

    I am going to Tahiti

as if saying it will carry me over the water.
But first I have to imagine the airplane—
its white body sleeping on the tarmac,
its engines like cats deciding whether to purr.

    I’ve never been to Tahiti,
but I know the hibiscus there
lean toward the ocean like they’re whispering
    secrets only salt understands.
    If I arrive,
I’ll walk straight into the heat and not stop,
just keep going until the sand
turns into someone’s idea of shade.

    I’m bringing a book I probably won’t read.
I’m bringing the kind of shoes
you can slip off without bending down.
    I’m bringing the idea
that this trip will make something permanent,
    though nothing ever does.

Maybe I’ll stand in the water
    until the horizon turns soft,
and think about how I thought about
    going to Tahiti
    for years before I did.

    And when I’m there
    I’ll miss the not-being-there—
    the long afternoons when Tahiti
was still a bright word in my mouth,
    unopened.

    Delightful poem.

Early, after midnight, in my fb feed a vid came up about Jim Carrey and the visualization he used for success... he could see it and wrote out a check for $10 million dollars USD to himself as a touchstone to that visualization... which he ultimately accomplished. I may be hazy on some of the details, but that's what I gleaned from the vid.

Found a different vid here and revised my initial $5 million to $ 10 Million https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_Wo...cJCfwAo7VqN5tD

Tahiti is close to an ideal I can imagine too... but no, I will remain tailor and diminish in the Gold Country.

    Enjoyed this poem so much!
About unfulfilled wishes and when they are fulfilled at last one might wish, that they were still unfulfilled so one could dream about them.
"I seemed to have sensed also from an early age that some of my experiences as a reader would change me more as a person than would many an event in the world where I sat and read. "

Thanks. Not sure there is a destination, just a constant journey.

Yes, i've seen that. Jim Carrey has become quite a philosopher in recent years. talented.
