    lol...

    she ran afoul

    so lem ran away
    and to this very day
    noone knows of her fate
    though 'tis whispered about
    she ran afoul, without doubt,
    enamored with the estate
    of an upcoming young man
    from Kentucky

    Lol!

The Truth about the Hen Lem
(who belonged to Ben and Jen)

    The Hen Lem met Chaim
    A promising rooster.
    From Kentucky.
She went to live with Chaim
    and his ten hens
and turned henist. (hen version of feminism)
    No more where her eggs
    taken
    scrambled
    fried!
    and eaten.

So she lived happily every after with her numerous chicken
until Chaim got sick of her henism
    Which was breeding revolt
Under his other former peaceful wives
    and sent her away.

Lem then turned into a wandering hen.
    Life at times was precarious
    But
    she never ever was
    taken
    cooked
    roasted
    or fried!

And that is the story of the hen Lem.

    lol !!

an absolute bald lie about lem the hen

as an activist hen lem had her scruples
she organized quite well and had pupils
all red, white, and blue; yellow and green
she became part of the machine
oh, and her favorite flowers were pink daffodils

    ode to piggies

    piggies aren't all coloured pink
    nor do all piggies stink
they'll wallow in the muck if you let them

but as household pets they're quite the gem
they can be rather quite a riotous lot

when feral - so bid the piggies feral not

a staple of most masters' tables
and stalwart hero of many fables
piggies have a varied and storied lore

both the sow and the boldly boar
boars are tusky and will slash and stab

so have sows but they prefer to bite than jab
so let us laud the piggies and give them their due

and see them in a brighter hue
digging up roots and truffles; smelling roses
all with their little piggie tricky noses

    The Hen Lem defends herself

Begging leave of the gentle swine
    I am her once more
    to defend my honor
    And... to sell wine.

Bad rumohr calls me a vagrant hen
Me, independent and settled Ms Lem.
    I was so lucky,
    to open a store
    in Hazard, Kentucky.
    What do I want more?

I deal in corn, I deal in wine
I sell to humans, I sell to swine
You will find me and my offspring
For customer service at The King
Also for photos, selfies and that poetical thing
At the main street, every morning at nine.

    An Anonymous Painter Named Tabor

There once was a man who liked painting
Who had to undergo mandatory assertiveness training
You see while his palette was derivative
    His style was quite primitive
Which often left his audience fainting

down flees the sea nod upon hidden rosy hued air

unwilling for the tide, Nor a crest gave
Then, complain, or Did he strive the one
again, sank down as while once the sea
Then run, lift happy sun to silent summer
and the unfathomable into a Quiet hour
    lived, like The dead. sink brief the Will;
But quietly, To An answering, Serenely
a heavens so bright, his head Sank
    unmurmuringly, course back And smile;
more wave he quietly died Of having
to stay Back bowed, all His the sea alive.

Both poems are impressive, but the mashup reads anguished, tumultuous, while the original reflects serenity. Hope itīs all well! Are there any particular rules for mashup?

    Mashup of the mashup!

    Down flees the sea,
    unwilling for the tide,
    nor a crest!

    He lived like the dead.
    Did he complain?

    No, he quietly died.
    His head sank
    unmurmuringly
    back into the sea.

    The heavens were so bright,
Just a hidden rosy hued air
    and the living water.

... all is well I suppose; I had a bug of some sort yesterday - feeling ok so far as I transition into consciousness. As for rules in the nonsense poem thread... lol ! My mashups have used all the words from the original poem and an anagram for the title (as above) if possible... but anything goes

Turned your version into a dark minimal acrostic:

    darkness

    down flees the sea,
    unwilling for the tide,
nor a crest! His head san-
    k back into the s-
ea. and the living water. He
    lived like the dead.

    An Anonymous Man Named Avery

There once was a old man who walked
He liked to study nature and was shell shocked
You see he yet knew very little,
    Of camelid spittle,
And came too close to one when it hocked

    The Man with the Ham

    There once was a man
    he had a ham
    and a bread.

    Ham and bread
    went to his head
    Alas, he is now dead.

    An Anonymous Man Named Noble

There once was a man who learned badminton
He found its instructions to be handwritten
    It was quite recreational,
    But not all that foundational,
Turns out the rules he learned were a shenanigan
