What do you think about

Have you ever read this short story? I want to analyze it and write an essay, but I don't have enough ideas. I would be very grateful if you help me.

It is by a talented Bulgarian writer who is multi-lingual. Who translated this? It is a fascinating take on the vampire tale. The shopkeeper lives a somewhat mole-like existence. There is no doubt some symbolism involved in the idea of her/ his blood having healing powers. The humans are driven by need and at the end are a truly bloodthirsty mob. The anonymous narrator has become a sacrificial victim to her own desire to help. I find some dark humour in it but it is basically a horror story. It deals though with quite complex human emotions. The feeling of despair, the desire to be helpful, spontaneous acts of goodness, selfishness and mob violence.

Not enough? Hmm. A drive-by poster.

I liked this story a lot. Who is the author? I agree that it has a horror-like theme, and I like your idea of symbolism that the narrator has become a sacrificial victim. You could use that to write about the tendency that, for the narrator's desire to help those in need, they will eventually become ruined by the greater desire of those who want to use her gifts for their own benefit. Therefore, it would have rather been better for the narrator to not help at all (although it may seem selfish). It's an interesting story that seems like the origin for how vampires evolved.
