What Are Some of the Interesting Literature Courses You Took In College???

I remember I took one about hybridity in literature and popular culture. We studied Ovid's Metamorphoses, Island of Dr. Moreau by H. G. Wells, among other works and we looked at paintings and other artworks. We studied the Terminator 2 movie when these androids turn their arms into knives or when they morph with their surroundings like the floor, etc. I remember there was another course on Poe's influence on Alfred Hitchcock. And there was this other course about "Queer kids" about homosexuals gays and lesbians. You guys and gals ever signed up for an exotic literature course???

I took a course on major post-modern literary characters: Holden Caulfield, Meursault(Camus, the Stranger) and Harry Rabbit (the Rabbit series by John Updike).

topics that were chatted about: how would Caulfield be like as an adult(answer: like Harry Rabbit), and interesting stuff like that.

I mainly studied mathematics and philosophy and avoided literature except for the general education requirements. I don't remember much from college courses, but I do remember some of my teachers. They were more influential on me than the course material.

Definitely, the most engaging and interesting literature course I took in college would be Storyboard/Storytelling it allowed me to full flesh out my characters, which was much needed. I would for sure take it a second time not only for the course's curriculum itself but for the teacher's insights, however, I am tight for money at the moment.

The most interesting literature course I took in college was on Jonathan Swift, and the professor, Charles Kay Smith, was into style and techniques, so I learned a bit about writing in general in addition to satiric techniques. Another course with him was more general, but it was great; he was writing the textbook during that period, so later years got some of the advantages of our discussions. The Book is Styles and Structures.

We had a great course called Translation of fiction, and I got a lot of understanding of the things which were meant by authors, and the most memorable book episodes we had were the episodes from The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.

Form & Theory of Fiction, led by one William Harrison. Course was my intro. to Barth, Barthelme, Borges, Coover, Nabokov.

During the semester, Harrison came to class with a story he was writing & asked for suggestions: about a futuristic sport designed to kill the participants. It was later published as "Rollerball Murder."

I've read "Rollerball Murder.". Fun story in the violent future sport genre. Both movie adaptations can be safely skipped, however.
