Hello just joined mostly looking for inspiration on what to read. I get certain moods when I look for certain styles of writing... sometimes prose poetry type like laurie Lee. .. sometimes humour like Jerome K Jerome. .. sometimes beautifully written historical fiction like vardis fisher. So that's why I am here. Hi!

    Hello everyone,

in my wanderings I past by your open door and I decided to peek inside. What I am looking for are good reads and discussions but, if fate wills, I will not reject the rare and invaluable gift of friendship.

I dare say it is of no use to present my self thoroughly here as there will not be any want of space on servers any time soon and I will be more than willing to tell about my narcissistic self when the circumstances will be more convenient.

Better to start, then, with what I am looking for. I recently finished reading "The Golden Bough", a book which has planted a lot of seeds in my mind, an already fertile ground. What I am looking for now is something specific to continue on such thread. I am not looking for erudite studies of anthropology from a different (even though "The Golden Bough" is also this) but something as insightful and written in such an elegant and accessible manner. I do not have an university background in humanities and, for how obvious it could seem to a specialist, I know not what read would most suitably follow.

Should you have any suggestions, do not hesitate to run to me calling as loud as you can.

    Goodnight!

Welcome to the site, LW. I have a bad knee so I don't do much running these days, but if you enjoyed The Goden Bough and would like more elegant but eccentric scholarship, I suggest The White Goddess by Robert Graves. Hope that helped.

Hello everyone. My name is Daniel, and I just found this site through a poetry class I'm taking. I'm very excited about this discovery; I had no idea a site like this existed.

Speaking of a class, I have to get to one, so it's just "hello" for now.

Hi guys! My name is Krissy. I'm a sixteen-year-old aspiring author. I've been writing on other sites like fanfiction and fictionpress for about five years (I've always loved literature). This is my first time on this particular site, but I'm always looking to better myself. So hobbies... Hm, here comes the list.
Firstly I love reading, writing, and anything in between. I love art, I can sketch very well as I've taken many classes both online and in school for it. I'm an okay painter but I never really had a passion for it. Though I can look at any kind of art all day (with a few exceptions). I love, absolutely love, to bake – especially bread, which I only started recently (my moms not too happy about it. She told me she's already gained ten pounds from it and that if I cook anymore I'm grounded, lol). I love music as well. I play piano and guitar—self taught—since I was twelve. I sing, mostly at church, competition, and other things. Last year in a duet me and my component won fourth at state level. I'd love to do a solo but I just can;t sum up the courage. My favorite subjects in school are literature and history. I think I love history so much because you can take a lot of that and incorporate it into writing. I also for some reason like biology and I'm probably going to take AP biology this summer since I'm taking regular biology right now.
I'm only sixteen years old so I don't have my entire future planned completely, but I have a few ideas. I've always loved the study of blood, in a totally non creepy way. Just the way that blood cells work together to do the most basic functions and how they can mutate and cause things like cancer. Plus I've non alot of friends and family member who have been affected by cancer and if I could do anything to help I would love to. So I really want to go into pre-med for college (I'm looking at Baylor University (I live in Texas so it would be in state tuition) and if I get accepted to a medical school then I would like to go into hematology or hematology-oncology.
Other dreams I have for my future would be to own my own publishing company. This would be my main dream becasue it's my true passion. I'd also like to run a little bakery on the side. No matter what I do I want to write a book/book series one day. I'm currently working on a book. I'm going through the outlining process. And I'm an absolute outliner. I will live and die by my outlines. Plus I love to do rigorous character backgrounds and characterization. I also get all my plot turns and all that good stuff. I stated really getting into writing in seventh grade when my English teacher gave me back my paper (with 110%!) and told me it was a beautiful paper and that I should really look into writing as a career. She then read the paper outloud and I made half the girls cry *evil laugh*. Then she read it to all the high schoolers, too. Talk about an esteem lift. It was a sad story though. It made me sad writing it. However, I'm also realistic and I know that writing as a career is not very realistic. But that won't stop me!!!
Bye guys. Hope to make friends on here.

    Post Life's Purpose

    Hello,
My mission in life is simple. I help successful people get more fulfillment in life by aligning their internal and external self. With 10 years of experience of living in Asia first as an expat then becoming an entrepreneur, having burned out, making a career transition in the financial downturn in 2008 in a new industry in a new location (from Hong Kong to Shanghai), setting up 2 foreign companies in China – finding my spiritual path in the process, closing my own GAP and spiritual awakening – finding true love I was able to find my path and balance my internal and external self. As a result I became happier inside and enjoy my life in the external world.
