I am looking for an old poem that someone wrote on the back of a senior picture in 1973. I searched for this once before about 15 years ago and came up empty for the most part. I was told on a forum that the poem was written in an English class and submitted for publishing by the teacher without the permission of the author and the author wished to remain unknown, however, I thought I saw it in literature book from the late 70s. I don't remember all the words, but many of the lines. This is what I remember, but I am sure it is not complete.
If I knitted you a rainbow,
Captured moonlight in a jar
(captured) the sea smell in a flower,
and gave you a cloud to ride on at will.
If I carved your name atop some high peak
where it would remain forever,
would you then remember me?
Pretty sure I am missing a few lines in the middle. Anyone ever see it before? Thanks.
