absolutely the first. there is a bible proverb that actually touches on that:

25:24--Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

despite some suffering having purifying qualities, a penchant towards masochism, and equating being young with a lack of wisdom, I think id go with the latter...

    a murder mystery or a political/legal thriller?

A murder mystery. Neither are genres I like, but I'd sooner squirt grapefruit juice in my eye than expose myself to politics.

    Colonoscopy or rectal exam?

I certainly would not kick a cupcake off my plate but hands-down its the muffin. similar shape, similar texture, just enough sweetness to not make you miss the cupcake, and much better for you too!

have asked this before---though the time of the year for us northern hemisphere folks is off---popsicle, creamsicle or fudgesicle?

    creamsicle

A gourmet dinner with an elegant lady, followed by dancing and lovemaking, or having your testicles crushed by a freefalling elevator?

my sense of masochistic asceticism does not extend that far, so im going with the former. of course the type of dancing matters too...laughs...

I will say ballroom preferably if it is a Masquerade ball

Going to a free concert in a park in which the music playing might not be your favorite genre or listening to a recording of your favorite band?

A recording. At home, comfortably, with privacy, no one around, endless pots of tea and easy access to a toilet. My days of attending large outdoor events, or, perhaps, even indoor ones, are over. I'll leave that to the kids with their mud and porta potties.

NY strip sirloin prepared perfectly, with onions and mushrooms, green beans with toasted almonds, braised potatoes and a fine Merlot, or jumping on a bicycle only to discover too late that it lacks a seat?

That question is basically modern classical from the 00s or from the 10s to me. Most of the classical composers I know from that time wrote much of their music before that, though.. I'm saying now on the strength of Karl Henning, Ivan Moody, and some others I forget now..

If you could only listen to music after 1970 or music before 1970, which would you choose? (and what year would you draw the line on personally? Mine would probably be somewhere around 1800...)

You're an evil bastard, so you are, North Star. ;-) You're forcing me to bid farewell to the Beatles, you wicked, wicked man, if man you be. And early Pink Floyd, and Hendrix, Cream, all the great psychedelic music of the 60s... Hm, this is harder than I thought. I think, ultimately, though, I'd have to choose the music that came after 1970, simply because there's more of it, for me, and in certain cases it's the music I couldn't live without.

Would you rather have a gorgeous face and an unimpressive body, or an unimpressive face and a gorgeous body?

im going to presume the gorgeous body has a much desired athletic utility to it, so hands down in that direction. by contrast, the gorgeous face is more or less eye candy that some, too many, people would resent or be suspicious of.

have used this one before a long time ago: betty or veronica?
