I'm new here. I am mainly interested in philosophy but also literature. I look forward to getting to know people.

Welcome Levinas. Say good morning to YesNo and you'll find yourself in a philosophical discussion (usually involving Berkeley). I hope you enjoy the site!

Welcome, Levinas! I saw your recent post on time. It is a subject I know almost nothing about, but wish I understood it better since I find space-time confusing. As Pompey Bum mentions, I think Berkeley's idealism is correct, but I am neither a scientist nor a philosopher.

Also welcome to bare-elf. The "herding cats" view of taking care of old people is great.

    Hi,

I love talking about literature and listening to other readers' thoughts. Present interests: Russian lit, especially Leo Tolstoy. Looking forward to benefit from the collective wisdom of this forum.

Yes, I've read Gaiman, Schätzing, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Asimov, but I don't know Stephenson and Rusch.. Any suggestion?

Cool... Asimov is one of my all time favorites.
Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age: Or, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer is an excellent book, actually it's one of the best SF books I've ever read. Strictly speaking The Diamond Age is Science Fiction, but reads almost like a fantasy, sort of a cyberpunk/steampunk/urban fantasy tale. The protagonist is Nell, a young girl who finds herself caught up in events that are spiraling out of control; and an outlawed book created by her father is her only hope.

Good morning. Not sure I will be really comfortable here. I was told this is a poem-posting site, rather than a discussion forum. But here I am for the moment. Would someone kindly advise me how this site works? I am an old man, not as computer literate as most people here, so I could use some coaching.

Not to worry; you were told wrong. It's primarily a discussion site, but you can also post your poems, stories, artwork, and photos.

Since your intro post was successful, you now know how it works. Browse the threads, and post where and when you feel like contributing. The people here are both quality and accessible, so don't be intimidated.
