Hello buya and welcome to the site. There should be a place to discuss Edith Wharton in the forum called Authors List, so that would be the place to take you question about Ethan Frome. Good luck and nice to have you here.

Hey there, I'm Mathias. I live in Brazil and study History. I have recently started reading literature again, as I have just now gotten used to the reading workload I have. That's why I joined, so I could get ideas for new books to read and discuss the ones I've read. I'm 19 and looking forward to learning from you guys!

Welcome Mathias! I recently read a historical novel by Mario Vargas Llosa about the Canudos War in Brazil. Interesting read. Anyway, welcome to the site and don't be shy about joining right in.

I didn't know he had a book about it! I do like him though. And the Canudos War is very interesting as well. I'll be sure to look this up. Thanks for the tip and the warm reception!!

You're welcome. It was called The War of the End of the World, recommended to me by another LitNetter and well worth reading. If you would ever like to discuss Canudos or history/historical novels in general, be sure to check out this thread: http://www.online-literature.com/for...torical-Novels
In any case, enjoy the site!

I want - more than anything in the whole world - to meet one truly free person. An already-evolved, unenslaved, whole being who needn't be taught or awakened to Self. One so fully awake In and To this world - ready and Able to go places neither of us have gone. I'm so sooo sick of the Mushy Middle: those hopelessly struggling to get out or somehow quietly make it through. I want to run away with dead authors, characters from books, and the romantic versions I have of a few select badasses.

Although I'm not a student of literature, but I have my interest in literary fields. I have joined the family of www.online-literature.com/ few minutes back. My main intention to join here is to increase my knowledge from the vast literary treasure of this website and also share views on the fields of discussions with learned members. Basically I'm a shipping professional having long working experience in the field of international shipping business. First of all I have to get myself familiar with the rules and the features of this forum to make myself fit for posting/sharing views. Hope within few days I shall be able to gain necessary experience to participate in the forum comfortably.

Hey everyone! My name is Bart (as the username sort of gives away). I'm a Dutch student of English Language & Culture, 24 currently (getting old). Considering my degree, I have to read books as you can probably imagine, and since my interest in literature is ever-increasing, I thought I'd join this forum.
Hobbies include, besides reading of course: tennis, video games, playing the piano, singing and beer (especially Belgian beer). Some of my favourite books include The Catcher in the Rye, The Raw Shark Texts and Nooit Meer Slapen (a Dutch novel).
Looking forward to posting and reading on this forum!

Haha, dankjewel!
Are you Dutch/Belgian/otherwise Dutch-speaking yourself?
If I manage to bring class to anything that would be a first in my life.
