    Role of creative fiction writers

    What is role of contemporary fiction writers with reference to Victorian writers like Charlotte Bronte and Thomas Hardy ??? Thanks..

    To be honest with you, besides the mystery genre I haven't come across any writers that produce work in Victorian style prose, and certainly not using typical Victorian narrative structure. Anne Perry and her detective novels are sort of close, I guess, and maybe a novel I read a ways back called The Alienist, by Caleb Carr.
    I don't think publishers are interested in replicating the style and voice of the likes of Charlotte Bronte and Thomas Hardy... it just wouldn't sell in today's market.
