with well-oiled grooves
sides scaled to the center
a copper base bearing
a tempered core
a holistic vessel
in which is stirred
pulse, the seeds of life
basic legumes, savory herbs
the seeds the common strain
ebb and flow of life
herbs the spice of life
added joys, blessings
blended with hearty meat
strips of intestinal fiber
marbled around the edges
a self-motivated soul
striving for success
encompassed by a caring heart
sharing the savory fat
the pulse and meat are combined
blended into a balanced diet
steaming along in concert
a seasoned mind
in a maturing vessel
stirring in the days of my life
