A prince sets off on a journey to save his dying father, driven by his fear of failing him.
Vaesen is a short animated film directed by the animator Adrian Dexter that I came upon by chance. It has beautiful aesthetics and a music that sounds like King Crimson. Some frames remind me to the cover of Tales from Topographic Oceans of Yes. I loved it since I watched it the first time.
(Its better to watch it in HD and fullscreen)Vaesen is an original story that I wrote and directed. It’s not based on any specific folktale, but I chose a very iconic visual aesthetic, and used folktale conventions that are engrained in many from childhood, so that I could explore a looser narrative. Basically I wanted Rankin-Bass on acid, written by Borges.
I owe its discovery to http://io9.com/5888980/a-gorgeous-fa...-hobbit-on-lsd
