    My opinion on 1984.

I believe 1984 is a great book. I was required to read it as a sophomore in high school. I believe it is a book better read when guided by someone who has already read it. Often you find yourself transfixed in this world. Oceania being the origin of the main character, you hear a lot about it. This new world consisting telescreens, artisem, and few individual opinions pulls together to grab you in. It is a book you can barely put down. When it ends you want more. I believe this book is better read in high school, then later read in college. Maybe cover basics in high school then go in depth in college. Overall I believe 1984 is a great book.

I agree in some ways, i believe 1984 has a very good general theme, but some parts of this book are very over detailed and i don't see the need for so much detail on the little things, that are not really important. Other than that, 1984 is a well written book.

I don't think that Orwell wrote a single detail that wasn't significant in some way or another to the main message he was sending. When thoroughly analyzed, anything can be translated into a lesson about life. True, because we are American it can be hard for us to relate to some of what he's saying, but how (or why) could Orwell pull random, extremely definite information out of his back pocket for no purpose other than to fill pages?

I believe that every word in that novel is important, no matter how small it may seem, and I think that the fact that a single person could ever write something so amazing really says something about the human spirit.

    But that's just my opinion.

My opinion on 1984 is that Orwell captures the concept of government control perfectly. He is warning us not to succumb to suppression by our elected officials. He wants us to see the lies in politics and continue to question our wellbeing. The concepts of "how" and "why " stick out throughout the novel. In order to live without suppressed rights, we need to continue to ask questions such as these and search for answers. I believe that is Orwell's message to us.

    Well, you nailed it absolutely.

Just don't forget it, and hold fast to human rights.
Go to work, get married, have some kids, pay your taxes, pay your bills, watch your tv, follow fashion, act normal, obey the law and repeat after me: "I am free."
