    Exclamation fatal attraction

    what is fatal attraction?
one film I can think to represent that may slightly represent this fatality of attractivity and that is the film by Polanski ''Bitter Moon'' with Hugh Grant it has all the features of fatality and yet I do not attraction was the right word for it.

Why do you ask? Have you experienced something you believe fits the bill?

I suppose what I want to know, before engaging in discussion, is- to what end do you want to discuss the topic? What's your hypothesis?
I'm weary with right-angles, abbreviated daylight,
Waiting for a winter to be done.
Why do I still see you in every mirrored window,
In all that I could never overcome?

I ask because it would be interesting to discuss the different reasons that lead people to commit acts of such.
attraction is usually a positive output of life and so to call it fatal is perhaps giving it a tag and making it so.

Fatal Attraction is a 1987 American psychological thriller film directed by Adrian Lyne and starring Michael Douglas, Glenn Close, and Anne Archer.

Highest grossing film of the year worldwide. Seven academy-award nominations, including best picture.

A married man has an affair with a woman who later refuses to let him go.

We just had a case of fatal attraction between Jodi Arias and CO that resulted in first-degree murder. Although it has a different background and it is exclusively between a married couple, the existential essence is practically the same. I'd bet a film will be made about it. Call it what you may.

Did you just ask whether fatal attraction exists? Yes, you did.

So, effectively you are asking if people ever go into a jealous rage and harm or kill other people because of that rage!

This is not a Serious Discussion topic Cacian.

Which leads me to my point. The Serious Discussion section has been virtually abandoned because of this sort of 'discussion'.
tony may I remind you this not the ''serious discussion'' forum. this is ''general chat''.

Hi cafolini who is Jodi Arias? in fact this reminds me of the case of OJ Simpson.

I stand corrected, ok - well, I think you put it in the right section. I do hope I cleared up the fact supported by emperical evidence that could fill Alaska and the Sudan: People go into jealous rages and harm or kill other people because of that rage!

why Sudan of all places ?!!
anyway back to the topic I think what you said is one way of expressing fatal attraction. I also mean to say 'fatal' as in when two people meet and cannot be together for reasons such as money heritage or other
attractions can be fatalistic but not in the sole meaning of death. Could it also mean ''forbidden'' that the relationship could not be.

well, I was very close to a fatal attraction.. I didn't kill him .. but I could have done that.. I don't think attraction is the right word .. I would call that jealousy .. it drives you mad ..

    "First there is desire
    Then... passion!
    Then... suspicion!
    Jealousy! Anger! Betrayal!
Where love is for the highest bidder,
    There can be no trust!
    Without trust,
    There is no love!
    Jealousy.
    Yes, jealousy...
    Will drive you... mad! "

Good question. I have no good answer.
