I watched a couple of short films with my nieces last night. They both were quite enjoyable.

    Paperman - 8/10

    Tangled Ever After - 8/10

Oohh. I liked Wreck-it Ralph! Comparing it to other kid movies, I give it 9/10. I loved the colors so much, and I'm a silly hearted gamer. It's not perfect, but I freaking love stinky old Sarah Silverman, and John C. Reilly, and Jane Lynch and the other voice talents. I loved the tribute to Ed Wynn (the Mad Hatter in 1951 Disney Alice) with the King Candy character. I'm finding more and more that Alan Tudyk is a multi-talented actor. The movie isn't hyper serious. It was a nice relief.

This has been a great year for kid movies (there were 4 that I liked and I usually like 0). Paranorman: 8.5/10 for music and emotion and clay. The main characters are pretty endearing. Frankenweenie: 8.5/10 for art. I think everyone can find things to like about Wreck-it and Paranorman, but Frankenweenie is black and white and about bringing dead pets back to life. It will only be enjoyed by people who enjoy this sort of thing. Luckily, I enjoy this sort of thing.

The other kid movie I liked was The Hobbit. Obviously, it's not JUST a kid's movie, but that's traditionally what it has been and I felt like a kid watching it. I'm not going to rate it. I give the whole Tolkien world a rating far above 10. I don't even care about any of its shortcomings.

I liked the Paperman short mainly for the way the city and characters were drawn. The story was just ok for me because, as someone who likes to draw on paper, I kept thinking how awful it was that he was wasting paper! Heh. Still beautiful. 9/10 for watchability.

Yes, the Hobbit was very good. I was expecting to be disappointed because the Lord of the Rings was hard to equal, but they did a good job. Score 10/10

I looked up Paperman and Tangled Ever After on youtube after Snowqueen mentioned them. Paperman seemed the best.

I just saw The First Time which I think deserves a 10, but I'm no film critic.

I'm showing my little brother, who's twelve, The Godfather, in an attempt to give him some culture. I think I'm going to try showing him some Vittoria de Sica next. He seems to be liking The Godfather.

We watched The Iron Giant last night. It is based on Ted Hugh’s novel The Iron Man and directed by Brad Pitt. My nieces loved it, I enjoyed it too. 8/10

Glad you enjoyed them, YesNo. I buy cartoon movies for my nieces and then we watch them together.
I've seen Hobbit, it is a good movie.

I and my sister decided to watch Godfather movies a couple of years ago, so we sneaked into my father’s collection of old films and enjoyed watching them. He later joined us too. lol
I suggested those movies to my friends but I guess they were not interested.

I think he will enjoy De Sica's 'Miracle in Milan' but perhaps he's a bit young for 'La Riffa' one of three stories from the film 'Bocaccio 70' based on tales from The Decamaron.
Here's a scene from 'La Riffa' in which Sophia Loren plays the wife of a shooting range owner at a fairground. The film is very, very funny.

    I must leave now.
I recognised the Piazza Navona and took a photo of the fountain years ago.

The Piano Teacher, by Michael Haneke, since I liked Amour so much. This one was not quite as good, but still pretty good. And, um, really, really painful to watch.

And what did you think, Snowqueen?

Painful, eh, Lykren? I've always thought I would give this a look, but life is difficult enough without adding to the pain.
