Philip Roth's Birthday Celebration - What a thrill!

My fiancee and I were lucky enough to get a place at Philip Roth's 80th Birthday celebration, put on by the Philip Roth Society in Newark, NJ. We report on the event on the High and Low Podcast (subscribe on iTunes!). It's in the first section of Episode 46

I liked Roth's points of view regarding memories of facts for the times when he spoke. I wish to celebrate with you. Thanks.

It was very bittersweet hearing him talk about his youth. A very elegaic speech

I think Roth and Faulkner are some of the barriers no BS can tumble in USA or the world. Thanks again. Happy birthday, dear Phillip.

You're so lucky! I'd love to meet him and hear him talk one day. I wonder if he's as funny in real life as in his novels.

We talk about it in the podcast but he himself was laughing at stuff he wrote when he was reading from Sabbath's Theater. He seemed like a nice, charming guy. Very intense, but he's a great artist so you'd expect that.
