Well if the book is suggesting the family is a symbolic of an American dream then what it is in fact suggesting that the rest of the world has not got similar families with similar views issues and plots.
Where is there is people there is culture. Just because one is American and the other Egyptian does not meant the two do not cross cultures because they do all the time.
