Quotes from The Great Gatsby Help

I have read the book and done a lot of research on it. I am taking a Lit Class. I have already written a few essays concerning the book. I did the essay but my instructor is asking for quotes from the book.

The essay is about how Fitzgerald's life is reflected in the book.

I have gone over the book several times I am having a hard time finding the quotes in the book that would mirror Fitzgerald's life.

Someone with a bit more knowledge on the subject might be able to see what I can not seem to see. Your help would be appreciated.

If you share your own thoughts first, you are more likely to get replies.

    Good luck!

Well you can start with the second page where Nick says: " My family have been prominent, well-to-do people in this Middle Western city for generations."
Fitzgerald was born in the Mid Western city of Minnesota.

You could end with the fact that the last sentence of The Great Gatsby is engraved on his tombstone.
"L'art de la statistique est de tirer des conclusions erronèes a partir de chiffres exacts." Napoléon Bonaparte.

"Je crois que beaucoup de gens sont dans cet état d’esprit: au fond, ils ne sentent pas concernés par l’Histoire. Mais pourtant, de temps à autre, l’Histoire pose sa main sur eux." Michel Houellebecq.

There are several aspects of Fitzgerald’s own life reflected in the characters of The Great Gatsby.

Nick Carraway is from Minnesota. Like Nick Fitzgerald moved to Long Island.

Like Gatsby Fitzgerald served in the U.S. Army. He fell in love in an area he was stationed in. Fitzgerald also traveled abroad.

It seems he made Tom Buchanan to epitomize some aspects he himself wished he could do but was unable to perform. Tom was an outstanding football player. Fitzgerald could not actually play the sport because of his build.

Like the partygoers of Gatsby’s Fitzgerald liked to live life to the excess.

Before going to Princeton Fitzgerald attended Catholics schools and thought about becoming a preist.

This is some of the things I have come up with.

That's a good start. I might discuss the character of Daisy in relation to Zelda Fitzgerald.
