I hope this is an Introduction; I'm not used to online forums. In fact, I've never done one before!
Normally, I'm a musicologist who has published five books in the academic world. You can read three of them, on the composer Roger Sessions, for free at my website www.AndreaOlmstead.com. (These three had gone out of print and I wisely had snarfed up the copyright.)
I've read all of Fitzgerald and decided to use my research skills on him.
Naturally, there's a huge bibliography, but I made my way through most of Matthew J. Bruccoli's works on the author. Evidently, Bruccoli was a close friend of Scottie Fitzgerald Smith, the daughter. That must have been a great help in securing permissions and also directing the donation of her papers to one library.
As you all probably know, "The Great Gatsby" as yet another movie--this one stars Leonardo diCaprio as Gatsby--was due to be released by Christmas. For marketing reasons they moved it back to next summer! This eliminates the chances for the movie and actors to be nominated for Academy Awards in 2013.
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing it. Would love to see "Gatz" in NYC, too, if possible. The reading of the entire novel in one day.
Is there any other Fitzgerald news I should know of?
