I'm having a bit of a crisis here. I have been using Times New Roman comfortably for many years without second guessing myself. Then along comes Calibri and takes over Microsoft Office. I always thought I was a serif kind of guy, but I'm not sure now; I really like the look of Calibri 11.
So which font/size is your choice for standard use? No fancy purposes here; just everyday paper/letter/report/story writing.
I wrote a poem on a leaf and it blew away...
I stuck with the Times New Roman size 12. I sometimes even knock it up to 14.
Reykjavík Times - almost exactly like Times New Roman, except that it also has a hooked 'o'. Font size 12 for me too.

I normally don't pay attention to the font.
However, I checked that I use the default Calibi size 11 for emails. I rarely use Word, but probably would pick some sans-serif font if I was required to make a choice. I am docile enough to use any style sheet I am required to use. For the poems I occasionally write, I type the html page using a programming editor, UltraEdit, with Courier New size 10. They are displayed with PRE tags so I see the text as Courier New in the browser as well.

Other then that for general posting purposes I stick with the forum one which I think is Arial.

Times New Roman which I started with anyway. There are lots of apparently interesting alternatives but they don't seem to add much to the printed page.
Where they do come in useful is for the title page of books where a much enlarged body of script could give a more striking appearance than an enlarged Times New Roman font.

Why thank you! I decided that the photo in my old avatar was getting shamefully close to a decade old, so I made a new one instead - cropped from the least dreadful picture I could find. It's my favourite hat, too...
Yep - but then so too does Times New Roman. TNR has all the funky letters I'm required to use except, sadly, that hooked 'o'.

I'll generally use Times or Ariel depending on context. Sometimes I'll go with good old Courier if I need monospaced.
To me a font shouldn't call attention to itself, just fit in and do its job.

I like Bookman old style but in school I have to use times new roman, 12 in both.

I'm a fan of Verdana and Arial myself. Times New Roman is so old fashioned. What's with all the font size 12. How big do you need your text? Do you all need glasses? 9 is plenty big enough. Flipping heck!
