    Presents

What shall I do with these dark chocolates
You shove into my mouth and parching throat
Choking from dead clichés hard to swallow?

I asked the same with yesterday's cupcakes
That came with a short note of three stale words
I heard before from the croaking of frogs.

What shall I do to show you I am full
And my mouth and choked throat will never speak
But burp the words, unchewed, before farting?

I leave you with a snippet (well, one half) of one of Emily D's poems I find appropriate when reading your poetry:
478: She dealt her pretty words like Blades -
    How glittering they shone -
And every One unbared a nerve
Or wantoned with a Bone -
    Sincerely.

    Ta ! (short for tarradiddle),

who am I but a stitch in time
what if I were to bare my soul
    would you see me origami

If the case was not made by all that preceded it, it was surely made by that final "farting"! It moves at that point from articulate disdain to unvarnished contempt!

I think you're prose is as good as your poetry. I like what you wrote above. Thanks, Prince. I hope one of these days, you will post your prose.

Oh, you are very kind to say that. In fact, prose was my truer love although I began as an archetypical teen-ager to write poems; but I remember promising myself that when I "grew up" I would write fiction.

And I did, and loved it. Two of my novels, some of my short stories & two children's stories were published BUT...

I hit a stone wall many, too many, years ago - the result of several rejections - and haven't been able to conceive let alone write any fiction since then. I returned, gratefully, to writing poems, with more attention than had been the case earlier.
