    Ants

I keeps a pack of biscuits handy
    to accompany me coffee
but when I falls asleep and
    forgets to seal the bag
    when I wakes up
the first thing I notices is
the sharp little pains of micro-bites
    it's these tiny teeny ants
    nipping at me bare feet
looking down to find a cloud of black dots
    swarming through the carpet weave
snatching what crumbs they can carry
in a series of alligator files
    up and out the window
    well this is no fun
    they's my biscuits
    and for all I knows
the ants is making the crumbs
    from the whole biscuits
so I takes the bag to the sink
    empties them on a plate
    painstakingly
picks, blows and brushes off the offenders
    and then returns the biscuits
    to the bag
fortunately I catched them in time
and most of the biscuits is
    still identifiable
but there is a considerable amount
    of biscuit dust
    which I sprinkles
    in the garden
    for the birds
    if they wants it
or a tribe of outside ants

but what of the ants in me house?
    I leaves 'em alone
    because you never knows
    what the vacuum cleaner
    might have missed

I'm halfway through eating the biscuits, and only ditched the crumbs. Presently looking for a biscuit tin - preferably one that comes with good biscuits (not Danish shortbread which seems to give a sort of slight asthmatic reaction. I've never heard of anyone else being allergic to Danish shortbread per se, so I'm thinking it might be an added mould inhibitor or somesuch). As long as it's air-tight (or indeed ant-tight) I'll be happy.

You are a great story teller MM and an imagineer (is that a word? who cares). The ants rearranging the crumbs back into biscuits hee hee .. now that captures the imagination and shows the amazing imagination you possess.

I suppose theoretically crumbs could be reversed back to biscuit form......... I need a lie down or is that a lay down the correct use of that gets me every time.

    Nice one Eminem.
    cheers

Wow, you made my evening MM! and you definitely should look for the fantasy, science-fiction trilogy by Bernard Werber 1/Empire of the Ants, 2/Day of the Ants and 3/Revolution of the Ants!

Your poem was a balm for my heavy heart, and - notice - you let the ants live! great! and the ending wink is perfection!

    Honoured to read this,
    Bar
