Put Your Head on My Shoulder ~ Paul Anka
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

The Gunner's Dream ~ Pink Floyd
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,

Spike Jones was a favorite of my Dad's, we listened to him and his silly songs all the time when I was a kid. There was a song about a horse race, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the song but it was my favorite.

*The William Tell Overture, that's the song.*

Yep, that was Spike with comedian Doodles Weaver (trivia: Sigourney's uncle). They did a similar bit with an auto race set to "Dance of the Hours."

Both of the above are on Spike Jones Is Murdering the Classics, which was my introduction to him. My father brought that album home one evening, and I was hooked for life. I ended up listening to it so much that I could replay it note-for-note in my head while waiting to fall asleep at night.
