truth in a world of lies

In a world that is filled with much deception and lies how do we as humans find our way to stay true to ourselves? Is this even possible? is there truth in this world of lies? when i refer to a " world of lies" i mean, so many people deceive everyday, in real world and much of literature in certain circumstances. how do we know if life is not just a lie? how do you judge what the truth is?

Nobody is deceiving and everybody is responding to stimuli born of certain circumstances only

There is much deception, but a lie implies a truth, and the principle or principles by which lies are measured must also, then, be the principle by which truth is measured. What is this rule? That, as it happens, is a difficult question to answer, not to mention how dull it would be.

To put it in a nutshell, I have no non-pedantic answer for you. The crux of the pedantic one is this: that we don't know if life is or isn't a lie, but simply that it might not be, and that this is basis enough to assume (for the time being) that it isn't. But, in any case, truth is often merely the penultimate question with the ultimate one being happiness. What can we do to become happy? Perhaps, as Nietzsche suggested, untruth is better for happiness than truth. But my answer is this: either find an identity or create one. How is this done? With the human will, which, rather than the truth, is the practical measure of goodness.

There occur many many truths and many many lies. But truth or the truth does not occur. Neither does the lie.
