Thankyou Beau. You're right about possibilities - I'm often caught up in the same dilemma. Do I put effort into this over that, or which is the more worthwhile endeavor? Then perhaps I'll just play this computer game for a few hours and let the subconscious process do the work? (Actually that's not bad advice - doing something unrelated is a good source of creativity. Yesterday I was at the fridge and noticed a puple stain - a tin of overturned beetroot. My first thought was 'grunting slime' for some reason, and I had a lightbulb moment for a poem. Then when I hit the Web to check it for originality my search brought me to a Litnet member).

Thank you, Mystyry! He's a little over 10.5 inches (27cm) off of his stand, 11 inches tall (28cm) including his stand. I tried to put light and depth in his eyes, and to give careful consideration to anatomy, so thank you for saying he looks real. That makes me happy.

Okay - And the Mermaid?.

I'm working on something that's not quite ready. I've been putting the objects in place for hours - harder than you'd tell when you see the finished product, but I was determined to see it through.

When resting on her base she and the base are about 6.5 inches (16.5cm) high. From head to fin she's about 8.25 inches (21cm). Her features are little.

The tiniest sculpture I've made was a fairy the size of a wine cork. I would post pictures of that, but I used a cheap clay and I think she turned out quite ugly.

That's quite a petite mermaid - from the detail I would have guessed a couple of feet to a yard.

Maybe the Fairy is a Fury?


Anyway I finished rendering - not happy with the sky though, but I need a break from this one.

Bubbles! Or crystals! It's so pretty. The mountain/s had to have taken a lot of work. I love how the orbs are reflecting the colors of the surface. How did you make them do that?

They're diamond spheres - the most refractive substance there is, thus the internal reflection inverting the surrounding scene. Also thus why I'm doing it again: because they're reflecting too much white grey sky for my liking - but I went for milky sky to even out the colour and texture of the ground. I've a better solution now. The other thing is in reducing the image and jpg size you also lose a lot of the sparkle - so you'll have to imagine how sparkly they actually are

I took a look at your latest project in your albums. I'm not familiar with that character, but I'm sure you pulled off the likeness quite well. Looks good and more importantly, you found something you enjoy to occupy your time.

Thankyou Gilliatt I love detail, but digitally I usually try for just one or two detailed aspects, because digitally at least it can quickly become Japanese magaziney - interesting elements all over the place.

Here's a city at midnight (experiment). The skyscrapers were height-mapped from the same window texture as makes the lights, and the sky another abstract brush set

Thank you too It kept me quite entertained when I saw it, so much so that I want to see it again sometime soon. Beautiful European women, lots of action and French-spoken, which is quite attractive too... underrated by the IMDb and others, but I really pay little mind to their opinions

I agree with Gilliatt and Varenne. The diamond spheres look dead wonderful, both in isolation and along with the mountain landscape that reminds me of Mount Doom in The Lord of the Rings, which I think is a great resemblance

Now, that particular midnight sky plus that particular mountain would really render a doomlike scenery, IMHO. I take it you are doing all these fine pieces on Bryce, right?
