In one particular chapter, I remember Mistress Hibbins asks Hester Prynne if she would like to join a witches' gathering. Hibbins, of course, practices "witchcraft," but this seems one of the neglected forms of "evil" in the novel, besides the labeled "sin" of adultery. I cannot recall what chapter . . . google . . . in chapter 8 this occurs.
