Captain America, I really liked it a lot. To be fair he may be the superhero I know the least about but this movie was good. I thought it was really cool that we met Mr. Stark and Hugo Weaving is always good!! Romance was a little bit to much for my taste, about one kiss to much... but everything else was great and I can't wait for Joss Whedons Avengers!!!

I just finished watching The Hobbit, the 1977 cartoon. It was actually a pretty good cartoon, with some pretty big name actors (Richard Boon for one!!)

I would have to give it a 7 out of 10. It was pretty good, but it did take some creative liberties. Some scenes from the book were altered, and some left out entirely, but in the end it was pretty enjoyable... however, you have to really be in the mood for it, the soundtrack can be a bit odd

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes - I thought it was very good; quite an emotional film but I think it ended too soon, in a way. 7.5/10

I have to admit that I actually went to the movies and saw "Thirty Minutes or Less" and liked it. It was quite enjoyable, especially if you didn't spend to much time thinking about how the real story ended.

I just finished watching Tucker & Dale VS Evil. 8/10 What a brilliant gory horror-comedy. Its a Canadian made movie (filmed in Edmonton and Calgary) with a humorous take on the cliche of college kids stuck in the woods with a couple of 'evil' hillbillies.

Well worth watching, but not for kids, I'm pretty sure it got an R rating for blood and gore. If you can stand the gore its pretty much laughs beginning to end.

I just saw Red Dog at the cinema. I live in Perth and I loved the depiction of multi-cultural miners working up North. The Pilbara is massive and its great to see the true story of Red Dog in film - knowing that a good yarn gets longer in the telling. I hear the Americans love it and after watching it I can see why and the sale of red kelpies has just increased. I hope it shows in the UK.

Despicable Me though not as good as Disney's movies, but it was a fun to watch. So 7/10

I've just been watching "Don't Let Me Go" or something like that - it's absolutely rubbish, complete twaddle. I've turned it off halfway, what a silly waste of time. I can't be doing with watching rubbish like this. Avoid.

I did the same with "Mr Brooks" the other day, rubbish.

If you want good TV/film then watch the original version of "The Killing"; a Danish drama, it wipes the floor with any of this sort of nonsense.

Loved Hedwig, both on stage and the movie. Excellent score.

Last movie I saw was Conviction, which I watched on hbo. Great true life exoneration of wrongly convicted man story but not a great treatment of it. I kept thinking that, in terms of script, tone, sophistication and direction, hbo itself would have likely done a much better job, per their usual yen for assembling writing and directing talent and for emphasizing character and overcoming the pitfalls of hackneyed Hollywood formula, than the movie did. A good cast, for sure, but only Minnie Driver in a supporting role truly scored, with the script giving her something slightly beyond the generic to work with.

Still, for the story, and for the chance to see a first rate cast - Swank, Rockwell, Driver, Juliette Lewis and Melissa Leo in small but momentous gigs - worthwhile.

    The Help - 7.5/10

I could have done without a certain laughably dramatic, teary scene between Skeeter and her mother. Otherwise, I thought the movie was good. The southern white women were so very deplorable.

Colombiana 8/10 I liked it. I'm trying not to feel guilty about it.

Watchmen - again. I fell asleep the first time and missed - well I don't know what I missed. I liked it this time though. 8/10. Really well made.
