    Deadbeat Music

Your boom box is hollow mate.
    The motherboard is missing
so you've lost the deep, throbbing energy
    that pulses through your body
whenever you turn the box on.
    Just two coloured coded holes
    on an overused, exterior shell.
No silicon bits or hybrid chips
    to blow your circuit grid.
What void will you plug into next
now there are no fibre optics watching?

Yah! The noise machine is dead!
Let them get their earphones and plug into their own head, they may be astounded at what they find.

I love music of just about any type but when it is played so loud my tonsils vibrate ...well, that's a little too much!

    Thanks Delta.

Thanks Kitty. It is a metaphor for something broader but I definitely agree with your sentiments!

A powerful metaphor, Delta. Have enjoyed reading and pondering. For me it's the sign the poem works fine!

The poem works more than fine. It teaches a lesson.
