Shipwrecked
I was out drowning
in rapid streets
when out of the tempest
a squatting child emerged.
He leaned on his haunches,
ground his teeth for the bite
and leapt like a leopard
from the cold cobble stone.
He landed with a splash
that pulsated the cobble
into ripples around his paws
and the torrent
of the liquid ground
washed my body
into shore.
