    ecce homo...

wouldn't be a bad read for all you philosophers once you've caught up to speed, reading the other works by the man...it's better to burn out than to fade away...he gave his all, you could at least read his work...

His omega-point came when he collapsed whilst feeling compassion for a horse that was being flogged in the street - so the story goes.

Ecce Homo - Behold the man! Read it a few years ago when my liking for Nietszche was stronger than it is now.

Then, during the next couple of years, he lost his mind and was bedridden with that ridiculous moustache seeing, amongst other things, the mocking figure of Richard Wagner's grizzled ghost.

Nietzsche went mad in a matter of a day, which is why I suspect neurosyphilis.

Zarathustra Rock - "That day I was walking through the woods along the lake of Silvaplana; at a powerful pyramidal rock not far from Surlei I stopped. It was then that this idea (The Eternal Recurrence) came to me" - Ecce Homo

He supposedly visited a brothel in his university days and was infected with syphilis there. Some doubt this though, stating a brain tumour as another possibility.

Nietzsche's medical records leave no doubt as to the cause of his madness within one day: paresis.

"What does not kill me, makes me stronger." - Ecce Homo

I know my fate. One day my name will be associated with the memory of something tremendous - a crisis without equal on earth, the most profound collision of conscience, a decision that was conjured up against everything that had been believed, demanded, hallowed so far. I am no man, I am dynamite! - Ecce Homo

    Buckle up!

why is the doc so clever? he'll let the philosophers here wrestle w/ that one for awhile...

and while you let that one tangle up your collective minds, don't forget to work your way over to this one by a fellow great one...

nietzsche on nietzsche...can a student of philosophy really ask for more?

    ROAR!
