    what's a poem?

its a gift its a curse
    its just some words
    merged into a verse
    as a pen traverses
    a page and leaves
    wisdom in its wake

    i dunno what poetry is
but i hope that it's this

drop the last couplet and then you have a restless piece which conveys so much in few words.

Just reinstall the apostrophes where needed: it's.

    A gift, or a curse,
    poem is
    a pen traversing a page
    leaving wisdom in its wake

Your poetry always possesses such RHTHYM, an underlying musical beat...

I suspect you're a musician as well as a poet?

I love the elegant simplicity in this, there's an innocent naivety, but one that's bound up in wisdom, which gives it an almost Eastern, philosophical flavor. I'm unsure of the closing couplet. I like what it says on one hand, but it's almost too self-reflective to fit in this context. On the other hand, I like how it underscores what came before with an unsureness, like a child making a bold statement but then realizing he/she might be wrong and looking to alleviate that with a more modest statement. It's your call; I could go either way.

I'm not sure how you've managed,
but you've made me realize that
    we create our own ancestry.
