Who said "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."?
Who said "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."?
I think it's taken as an extrapolation of the biblical phrase, 'love thy neighbour as you'd love thyself' we need shea here! UGGHHHH fine. i'll go find my bible and give u a proper quote so i don't sound like an idiot. hang on.. 'Do not seek revene or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbour as yourself' (Leviticus 19.18) i think it's one of the commandments, (i should really know that, shouldn't i?) i remember reading somewhere it's one of the most important..love, faith and hope. but the greatest of these is love. it's in Romans somewhere... it's sort of one of the epitome of Christ's teachings. but i could be wrong. in which case i just wasted my time. maybe some other author thought it up.

The golden rule: Jesus says -
"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets" (Matthew 7:12).
"Man was made for joy and woe;
And when this we rightly know
Through the world we safely go" Blake
i can't believe i didn't know that. oops i often used to read Matthew 7... back when i was more religious. cry

I think it´s in Luke as well. But I can´t remember where.

Hi, I was just exploring, I usually skip over this part of the forums (though I don't really know why). The other place in Luke for your quote is Luke 6:31 "Do to others as you would have them do to you."
