    scatterbrain

    hello everybody

that's cool, but here's something even more so:

here's a collection of nibblets which could be considered poems. all unrelated to each other.

    slowly i'm pulled
    to the edge of
    the wood
    and out of the darkness
comes a soft echo of laughter
    the branches sway in sync

    the calmest night
    amidst the darkest of days

    we are all silver-tongued werewolves
clawing and biting at each other, while
    fresh meat is dangled
    above us

    I articulate my laughter
    with intricate hand gestures

it's not that we can't see the sun
it's that, without the struggle, there'd be no fun

yeah. so if you thought it was bad or good, your opinions are welcome.
unless you want to know why i didn't capitalize. shut up

    thanks - joey

    Thank you, Bar
If there was any "theme", I'd say it was:
"he said that...all men live lives of...quiet desperation"

These are all good seminal thoughts to delve into and expand, except the werewolves I could do without. My favorite:

thank you very much fire. i figured that line to be the weakest, but then again i'm overly-critical sometimes haha. i just may develope all these into full poems with a lot more substantial depth to them.
i wouldn't say i have a vast knowledge of established poets, but that would be great if you could suggest a few of your favorites.

They're all good launching points I think. Although I'm in agreement with firefangled about the werewolves. The best Lycanthropic poetry rarely touches the word. It's doable, but you'd have miles of pop-culture weighing against you (if you wanted to craft something serious). Now that we know where my obsessions lie, welcome to the forum!

Thank you very much for your insight, deryk! I'm not familiar with the many do's and don'ts of writing and poetry. I just try not to follow any set guidelines, but to write what I find interesting and moving, and if it interests and/or moves another person then that's great as well haha. I know I'm not nearly as skilled as the many users on this site who have been here for years, though I am grateful for whoever had the patience to look past my short-comings and provide their input to whatever I scribbled down. I'm working on a short story of Doctor Who as of late. Like a real nerd . Thanks again
