This thread has gained a new life. Everything is so cute that it should be impossible to pick one piece

That's a very nicely done coloring, Beaut. I haven't forgotten the coloring I owe you. I've been busy lately, but hopefully I might have it for next week

Following a tutorial on flower making on Paint.Net, I came up with the next four pieces (the one with the yellow center is a little variation of the exact instructions given on the tutorial, and the other ones are the results of my own experiments):

Then I took it a little further, I experimented with several effects and tricks, and I designed a humble present for my friend Beautifull:

I suppose they are all abstract flowers. I'm not sure whether any of them resembles a real flower

<<<<<I wanted to do a LOT of that, but I was in front of a lot of people in a veeery quiet hallway, so instead I had to settle for smiling REALLY big! Thank you much Max! They're really nice pieces, and I can tell they're flowers, so they must be flowers.

And thanks for the comment on the piece I colored. I was wondering if anyone had seen it....

But take your time. I can wait for that piece. Do what's priority first.

But thanks Max, I really needed that a lot.

You did well. Don't show your vulnerability unless they are dependable friends I'm glad you liked it

My friend Beautifull's creation, humbly colored by me (there might be slight unintentional modifications):

Yo, Beaut! Lemme know if you agree with the colors!

I love it Max. Of course, I had a different color scale in my mind, but she's definitely a Beaut like this! Very nice Max! I love it!

Thanks for the comments... I'll see what I can do about that blue background

Crap or no crap software, the result is very entertaining, and even relaxing. What software is that? Did you use Bryce or something similar?

At Max - Bryce was ace, it was trying to compress it into youtube format using third party free downloads - . The original is high def and looks great, but the free stuff for afterfiddling is not so great (maybe it is - just wouldn't work for me I'm not a tech head and that was the hardest most confusing and boring waste of time ever)

In the end I loaded the final 350mb movie into Moviemaker 1, and played with the filesize regardless of quality, randomly choosing to squash it down to 21mb for reasonable length of time upload

The original quality is much better - those diamond textures are spectacular - as is everything else but what can you do? (and there's also this nonsense about square pixels and rectangle pixels, and it's all too complicated) but at a certain point I just wantd to upload it and be dammed

Now though, I've discovered that youtube has things called tags which resize and reshape the video, and I'm also realising this gibberish is as bad as the gibberish I had to suffer night after night

    Glad you all enjoyed it

I think the picture in this is the better art, I still think it's the best picture I've ever taken.

Working with videos is a whole subject, regardless of the tools you use. People who master the field spend long hours trying different frames per second, resolution, sound quality and whatnot. 350 mb is a decent size for good quality, although it's quite huge to be uploaded. To sum up, whatever you did, it turned out in a good balance of size/quality. Good job, Mystyr

You're right there Max - my mistake was believing that the whole thing could be understood by someone, namely me, who isn't interested in it (at least that side of it) in the first place. I became increasingly convinced that there must be some ultimate free program that did it all automagically - and Moviemaker (2.1 actually - the version that came with xp) has its own limitations if you're working with aspect ratios that it wasn't designed to handle (i.e. most of them)

And the truth is to do it properly is to invest in something like Adobe Premier and learn to use it

But having said that - I don't want anyone to be put off video editing if that's your bag, but if you want to keep it simple and use what you've already got and if you're having problems with youtube remember to use these tags

    yt:stretch=4:3 or yt:stretch=16:9

    there's also yt:quality=high

    which is self explanatory

Also about 10mb per minute is the golden mean

Automagically would be great, though rather impossible in our humble dimension where we're bound to sweat
