hmm -- while reading Moby Dick, I must completely have missed the romantic trait in Captain Ahab ... I mean, he is certainly an interesting character, but romantic?

I haven't read the whole thread, so in chance of saying something that is already said...

Is it already to late to mention another character?

Ow what the heck, I'll do it any way

Tolstoy had quite a way of describing (Russian) people, what about

    Pierre Bezukhov (War and Peace)

    And while I'm at it:
    Jude Fawley (Jude, the Obscure)

But I guess the line should be drawn somewhere... the list really could be endless Let alone that it would be possible to pick just one
Maybe you should just every week try a "which of these 5" and then by the end of the year we'll have 52 characters to choose from?! Just a thought... there would be no way I'd read 5 books in a week though

Bah, Darcy is winning. Why am I not surprised? Yeh, I mean he's wonderful and so on but come on - Wentworth or Darcy? I love you Darcy but you're no competition - just because you have a few hundred more pages devoted to your case! Men and length....
