Just a thought, but there a forms of friendship, certainly more prevalent in the Elizabethan era, that were probably more demonstrative that we tight-lipped British today, but it certainly doens't fit in with today's almost slavish ned to prove that somebody was one of the already persecuted minorities. It is perfectly possbile to be the closest of friends with somebody, of the same gender, but not to have any homosexual tendencies. Try reading Johnson
